Hey there! I’m Casey, the photographer behind Casey Sima Photography. I’m based in Central Connecticut, and I’m so excited to connect with amazing families like yours through my blog. Finding My Passion for Photography

It all started when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, Aria. I was determined to capture all her little milestones—the first smiles, first steps, and of course, her "month" photos. I picked up my first fancy camera with the simple goal of documenting her life. But after I went back to work when she was four months old, I quickly realized that I didn’t want to miss out on those moments. It was so hard to leave her every day, and eventually, I made the decision to leave my corporate job and become a stay-at-home mom. As our family grew with the addition of two more girls, Parker and Holly, I found myself reaching for that camera more and more.

After a few years at home, I began to feel the pull of wanting something for myself—as moms, we often get so focused on taking care of our babies that it’s easy to forget our own needs. I wanted to find a way to be fully present with my family while also doing something I truly enjoyed and that allowed me to contribute financially. That’s when the idea of photography hit me. I could combine my love for capturing life’s most precious moments with my desire to help other families preserve their own memories.

What Drives Me

The thing that excites me the most about photography is creating lasting memories. My girls and I love to look back on old family photos, and every time we do, it takes us right back to those moments. That’s truly magical. When you look at my photos, I hope you feel that same warmth and love. I don’t go for stiff, posed shots—I want you to see the fun and connection between the people in the photos. My favorites are often the ones where no one is even looking at the camera, but you can still feel the love and joy everyone shares.

How Being a Mom Shapes My Work

Being a mom myself has absolutely shaped how I approach photography. I know how stressful it can be to coordinate outfits, get everyone to the session on time, and try to keep the kids on their best behavior for an hour. That’s why I keep my sessions laid-back and fun. I like to focus on what’s most important to you—what memories you want to capture—and then let the session unfold naturally. If the kids are having a tough moment, we’ll just roll with it and find a way to make it fun. The goal is to capture your family as they really are: joyful, loving, and a little chaotic.

A Little Peek Behind the Scenes

A typical day for me is a mix of mom life and photographer life. I get my girls off to school, and then I sneak in editing and emails whenever I have a quiet moment (which, let’s be real, isn’t often!). I usually work after they’re in bed, so if you get an email from me late at night, now you know why!

Before a session, I always double-check my gear about a million times (you can never be too sure, right?). But once that’s done, I treat myself to an audiobook on the drive. Mysteries and thrillers are my go-to—it's a nice little escape before I dive into the creative chaos of capturing your family’s memories.
